Top 5 factors to look for when buying a treadmill

October 26, 2020 by household Leave a Comment

Do you plan to invest in a treadmill? It is a great idea as you can work out right in your home. No excuses anymore for your gym sessions! While a treadmill is a great investment for your fitness, it is very important to buy the right machine to avoid regrets later. Here, we have listed some of the important factors that you have to watch out for when you are buying a treadmill.

  1. What is your budget

When you set out to buy a treadmill, you will see plenty of options at your disposal. So, it is highly recommended that you have a clear idea of your budget before you start to the lookout. Some treadmills may cost you around $1000, whereas a few advanced models could cost you over $5000 as well. Which one is the right choice for you?

To answer this question, it is important that you set aside a budget for your treadmill. If you are on a tight budget, you may be interested in buying models that are priced at around $1000. However, you may not find too many features in these models. If you want good quality and durable treadmill, you should be willing to loosen your purse strings up to $3000.

  1. What should be the size of the belt?

More often than not, the belt size and width matter a lot when it comes to deciding your comfort on the treadmill. Some of you may be new to using treadmills. So, you might start out by walking on it for a few days before you begin running on it.

According to fitness experts, the belt size should be a minimum of 48 inches long, whereas the minimum width should be 18 inches. This way, you can get your treadmill to move as smoothly as you would have loved it. However, the belt size should be around 54 inches long, if you are very tall (more than 6 feet tall).

  1. Motor capacity

The motor horsepower of your treadmill is an important factor that you should watch out for if you want your machine to run for a long time. If you don’t plan to use your treadmill regularly, you can opt for a machine with 1.5 continuous duty horsepower, commonly known as CHP. However, if you are a fitness enthusiast, who plans to use your treadmill every day, you can opt for a machine with 2.5 to 3.0 CHP.

  1. Space constraints

Before buying a treadmill, ensure that you have an idea about the space that you have in your home. This will help you in buying the right side of the machine. Some machines can occupy quite a lot of places, even when you fold them. So, it is highly recommended that you test the mobility and space features of the treadmill in the store properly before you put your money in it.

  1. Warranty specifications

Ideally, most of the reputed manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty on the frame of the treadmills. They also offer at least a 10-year warranty on the motor, which speaks volumes about the durability of the machine. Some of the very cheap models may lack these warranty specifications. So, please don’t hesitate to spend a little extra on a treadmill that comes with at least a 10-year warranty.
